What to do after a failed emissions test
A failed emissions test means there is something wrong with your engine and it is producing more pollution than it would if it were fixed.

You need to make an effort to get repairs and then retest the vehicle.

The following stations are authorized as Repair & Retest Stations. After making repairs they are allowed to complete the emissions test so that you do not have to take the vehicle back to the original test station for a retest.

Oakley Moody - 343-4697
1375 Grove Street

Fairview Tune Tech - 377-4220
9225 Fairview Avenue

Rod’s Repair - 376-4700
106 West 43rd Street

Brown’s Auto Repair - 562-1151
2900 South Cole Road

Jeff’s Volkswagen - 376-4686
4422 Adams

John’s Auto Care Center - 884-8064
499 South Meridian

Meridian Auto Repair - 888-3797
505 North Main

You may choose to do the repairs yourself or have any mechanic make the repairs and then return to the original testing station for a retest (free, if done within 30 days of the initial test).

You must still meet the emissions testing due date printed on your testing notice.

If the repairs and retest cannot be completed by the due date for your emissions test, contact the Air Quality Board for an extension.

Keep all receipts for emissions related repairs. If you spend more than $300 on emissions related repairs in an attempted to get the vehicle fixed and it still cannot pass the emissions test, you may qualify for a waiver of this year’s requirement to pass the test. The waiver is given so that you can have a year (from the original due month) to get the appropriate repairs done.
